The Ornery Ternary Operator ( ?: )

The ternary operator tests a condition.  ( http://www.dotnetperls.com/ternary )

The below statement:

if ( a > b )

z = a;

else

z = b;

can be written extremely compactly as:

z = (a > b) ? a : b;
